Y!Epic Chat Client
v98 is online for update/full installation.
Fixed various placement and window state issues throughout the user interface in preparation for aero glass support shortly (beta testing is now in progress)
Fixed various element resize issues under the Win Bus chat tab
Fixed false detection of client
Added option to disable the tool tip / hint pop up with information on user list item mouse over, this is under General preferences (under Tools) as "Show information on mousing.."
Tweaked jitter bot filter to decrease false positive filtration
I felt these fixes, tweaks, and minor additions were imperative and I have also improved the stability of the voice authorisation system in Win Bus. The issues may not be completely resolved as I have not had time to extensively test but at least the most annoying ones should be vastly reduced in frequency and/or completely gone. I will know soon enough, as for the suggestions not implemented into this version as I had previously said they would be, I can only apologise, this is due to a lack of time and an important set of fixes taking priority. I felt the need to release this version to take care of those issues as they are niggly and generally make the whole experience seem tacky.
I am also working on a new anti boot method and possibilities which need exploring fully prior to usage, the success rate is minimal but there is always hope yet. I will keep you all posted as to the results of these tests in due course.
Patience is imperative. If you are concerned about booters and/or exploitation within Yahoo! itself you are using a client here that is as secure as is possible within this chat network (Yahoo! Chat), and sadly at this time nothing further can be done to protect you. The client is extremely optimised at handling masses of inbound data, and is capable of performing stateful packet inspection and weeding out crap in order to not even fully process malformed packets ("boot packets") to speed up the process and lower CPU cycles required, but if the attacker is using a SERVER SIDE exploit (this means you are cut off before you even receive that data on the server) it is simply out of the client's hands. This is why the last update reset you to v102 for your own protection, and this version continues that phase on, and remains at a default YMSG v102 protocol version.
If these issues plague your room of choice, you can always sign up here at the forums, and ask that your friends do the same, and utilise Y!Epic's private chat network called Win Bus.
Feel free to create your own room and migrate to that service, where voice chat and everything chat based is possible without the worry of malicious users having any rate of success in removing you from the services (and those malicious people will be dealt with very quickly indeed, erasing them permanently from the service).
As for future updates, v99 will have the suggestions I promised completed, and some more tricks. Hopefully a bettered anti boot solution and a reset back to YMSG v17 to fully enjoy all features of Yahoo! Chat.
Webcams, and conferences are planned in the near future for those asking. You have my word on that.
Perhaps we should aim to have at least transmit/broadcast and webcam viewing available and stable in version 100, just because 100 sounds special.
